If you need to change your name, photo, bio, or other profile details, you can do it from your profile’s editing page.
To get started
- Go to your profile.
- Click Edit profile.
- Choose what you want to update, then click Save Edits to save your changes.

Troubleshooting
- You don't see the "Edit profile" button: Make sure you are signed in to the correct account, then open your own profile page. If you are viewing someone else’s profile, you will not see Edit profile.
- Changes are not saving: Refresh the page and try again. If it still does not save, try a different browser or a private window, then repeat the steps above.
- Your profile does not look updated right away: Refresh your profile page to confirm the change.
Privacy and visibility
Your profile information will be visible to anyone who visits Academia.edu, like your contact information. We recommend refraining from adding any information you'd like to keep private. It is not possible to make your account private.
