As the owner of your paper, you can edit your papers at any time. Make sure you're logged in to your Academia account, then click the "Edit" button from either your profile page or the paper page. Click the "Save" button to finalize your changes.
You can edit your papers at any time if you're the owner using either of these two options:
- From your profile: Click the "Edit" button under the paper where it is located on your profile.
- On your paper page: Click the three-dots button ⋮ under the title and abstract.
💡 Tip: The paper owner is the person who uploaded the paper to Academia.edu. If you're the first author (or only author) of a paper, you are its owner!
What can I edit on my paper?
You should use the editing tool if you want to change anything about your paper, like the:
- Attachments: Add or remove files you've attached to your paper
- Title: The name of your paper that appears on Academia and in search engines where the paper is visible
- Co-Authors: Who participated in authoring the paper
- Abstract: The summary of your paper

How do I edit my paper?
On your profile
- Click on your name and profile photo in the navigation bar at the top of your screen.
- Click My Profile.
- On your profile page, go to Uploads where all of your uploaded papers appear.
- Scroll down to the paper where it's located.
- Click the Edit button under the paper where it is located on your profile.
- Click Save to finalize your desired changes.
💡 Tip: If you added this paper to a section on your profile, you can also click the section tab where the paper exists to get there faster.
On your paper page
- Open your paper in your browser.
- Look under the title and abstract (or summary) of your paper.
- Click the three-dots button ⋮ to reveal a context menu with more paper options.
- Click Edit.
- Click Save to finalize your desired changes.
