Once you've activated your personal website, you can customize by adding a cover photo, and changing how other views can contact you.
How do I change my website photo photo?
To change your header, simply scroll down to the bottom of your personal website settings and click the green "Upload" button, then select from your computer the image that you'd like to display as the cover photo for your website.
Here are some handy tips to upload the perfect cover photo:
- Select a picture that's at least 1200 pixels wide.
- If your picture doesn't seem to be centered, cut some off the top or the bottom.
- Only use images that you have the copyright or trademark license to use. If you don't have an image this size, look for images with a Creative Commons 0 license, like on Unsplash or Pexels.
How do I change my Contact Us Page?
As part of your personal website, we provide a "Contact Us" form, where people who view your website can leave you messages. Through this form, you can make new connections, learn about people who are interested in your work, and forge powerful new connections supported by shared academic interests.
Your contact form on your personal website will ask for some information from anyone who wishes to leave you a message. These boxes are mandatory.
When someone sends you a message, we'll send it to you as an email to the email address associated with your Academia account. If you're not sure what email address is associated with your Academia account, you can always view this in your personal website settings:
This is just one of the reasons we always suggest you have an up-to-date email address on your Academia account that you can easily reach. We'll do our best to filter out spam and junk mails from anything you get in this box. You'll know the message is from your Academia website because of Academia-indicated format. They'll look like this!
If you no longer want to have people contact you through your personal website, you can turn this off in your personal website settings! Simply go to your personal website settings in your account settings, and click "Disable" next to "your contact form is enabled."
