Creating a robust network on Academia is the best way to get Academia's systems to work for you, including finding accurate mentions, showing papers related to your research, and offering new ways to grow your research output.

How to see your network
On both your home page and your profile page, look under your profile picture to see your:
- Followers: People who follow you.
- Following: People you follow.
Clicking on either of these will open your Network page, where you can switch between tabs like Followers, Following, Co-authors, and Suggested for You.
We may also show you:
- Co-authors: People you have co-authored works with (to our knowledge).
- Suggested: People we think you might want to follow. Find more follow suggestions
What you’ll find on the Network page
The Network page shows your followers, following, co-authors, suggestions, and your contacts. You can click each of the following tabs to see the people in those categories:
- Followers
- Following
- Co-authors
- Suggested for You
- Your Contacts
Ways you can grow your network
Find more follow suggestions
We'll suggest followers who we think can contribute meaningfully to your network. You can find them in three ways:
- On your home page: Click Suggested under your profile picture.
- On your profile page: Click View all next to Academics you may know.
- On your Network page: Click the Suggested for You tab.
Suggestions may include:
- People at your institution or in your affiliations
- People followed by people you follow
- Authors of papers you’ve bookmarked
- People with similar research interests
Find your contacts
If you've connected your Google account, we'll find your contacts' profiles on Academia for you. Connecting your Google account can make it easier for Academia to automatically built a network that works for you. This is optional.
