Learn why your Academia.edu profile might or might not appear in Google, Yahoo!, or other search results, and what you can do to solve the issue.
Why isn't my Academia profile appearing in search results?
Search engines, like Google, Yahoo!, or Bing, can take a while to update their index. If you just created your account, it may take a few days to appear.
Conversely, if you have just deleted your Academia profile, your information will remain in the search engine until the search engine reindexes their database.
You can speed this process up by contacting them with a link to the profile you've just deleted. If you see a profile picture of you on Google that you'd like to delete, delete that account and then submit that account URL to Google.
How can I make sure my Academia profile does appear in searches?
We don't control how search engines like Google rank or display results. Even with a complete profile, it may not appear in searches immediately. To increase your profile's visibility, try these tips:
- Add a profile photo.
- Upload your papers.
- Follow other users.
- Link to your profile from your department or college website. This is a great way to significantly boost your search ranking and get more views. (If you need help, contact your department's IT officer.)
