Your profile is the face that you display to Academia and the world! To access your profile on Academia, click your profile photo in the top right corner and select "My Profile." Ensure you are logged into the correct account by checking for "Upload" and "Edit" options. If you can't access your profile or see no documents, you may be logged into the wrong account.
The profile is your public canvas — your picture, biography, papers, and other information about you are displayed here for everyone to see. We strongly recommend checking it every so often just to make sure things are just the way you like it, and that the information is accurate and up-to-date. This is what users will see when they search for your name or get to your profile by clicking through from one of your papers.
Additionally, you can change many things about your profile through our edit menus.

Frequently asked questions
This profile doesn't look like mine, or I can't access my Academia Premium benefits!
This means you are mostly likely logged in to the wrong account, or you're viewing a different researcher's profile. There are a few ways to confirm this hypothesis:
-
Check the action buttons. Look at the biography, below your profile photo and affiliation.
- If you see "Follow" and "Message": You are viewing a profile that you are not currently logged into.
- If you see "Upload" and "Edit Profile": You are viewing and logged into your own profile.
- Check your document count: If you have uploaded many documents, but the profile you are viewing shows "No documents," you are on the wrong account.
- Compare profile photos: The small photo in the top-right corner of the page belongs to the account you are currently logged into. If this photo does not match the large profile photo on the page, you are viewing another scholar's page.
-
For example, this is my profile:
I can confirm I'm logged in because:
- You can see my profile photos match, both at the top-right and on my profile
- You can also see "Upload" and "Edit." This indicates I am viewing the profile I am logged into.
This profile is another scholar that matches my name, but those details do not match, and I see "Follow" and "Message." This indicates this is a profile that I am not logged into.
If you have uploaded many documents to your profile, and viewing this profile shows you no documents, there's a high change this is not your profile, but perhaps a duplicate. Fear not! Your profile has not been deleted. What should I do if I think I have a duplicate account?
If you believe you are logged into an unintentional, second account, try logging out and logging back in using the primary login method you normally use.
If you believe that you should be logged into the profile that you're viewing and you still aren't, please contact us, and provide the link of the profile you are viewing. What this generally means is that an extra account was created, and you are logged into that account rather than the account you usually browse Academia with.
