Profile Visitors is an Academia Premium feature that shows when logged-in Academia members view your profile.
Who will I see in Profile Visitors?
Knowing who has viewed your profile has several key advantages:
- Build a meaningful grant proposal demonstrating your international reach and global relevance
- Learn which cross-disciplinary interests you may want to expand into
- See universities or other affiliations who might be paying attention to your work
- Discover potential employment opportunities in other countries
Keep in mind: We can only display information your profile visitor has provided. If your visitor has chosen not to add their affiliation, for example, that information will not appear.
How to see Profile Visitors
To access your profile visitors, you must be signed up for Academia Premium, our subscription service. If you aren't signed up already, you can sign up by clicking here.
If you're already subscribed to Academia Premium and you want to see your Profile Visitors:
- Click Analytics in the top of your navigation.
- On the next page, you'll see your Analytics Overview.
- Click the Profile Visitors tab at the top.
What you'll see on the Profile Visitors tab
When you click on the Profile Visitors tab, you'll see a list of cards with information about the unique visitors who viewed your profile.
Each card is broken down into three key parts:
- Profile information: This may include details the visitor decided to add to their profile, such as affiliation, location, and research interests.
- Recent activity: When they visited your profile.
- Recently Bookmarked: The papers this user has bookmarked recently.
Why do I see profile views but no Profile Visitors?
The Profile Visitors page in your Analytics dashboard only displays users who were logged in to the site when they viewed your profile. If the visitor wasn’t logged in, their profile view may still appear in your Analytics Overview, but we won’t be able to show a visitor card for them.
Why can’t I see the names of my Profile Visitors?
For privacy reasons, we won't display the names of anyone who has visited your profile. Visitor cards only include information the visitor has added to their Academia profile. We hope the information shown will point you in the right direction and expand your networking horizons.
