How do I delete my profile?
To delete your profile, see our article How to delete my account. Deleting your account will delete your profile. Any papers you've added to Academia will also be deleted.
How do I hide my profile from online search engines?
Unfortunately, we do not offer the option for hiding or removing your profile from search engines (e.g. Google, Yahoo!, Bing). If you'd like your profile or your profile picture to no longer appear, you will have to delete your profile picture or delete your account.
I've deleted my profile. Why does it still appear online?
Unfortunately, once your Academia profile has been deleted, we can't help you any more on our end. If you have just removed information from Academia.edu, it might take some time before search engines crawl the page again and remove that information.
How to request personal data deletion from Google
You can contact Google to request that they delete the information from their search rankings. To do so, request a refresh of outdated content. Follow the instructions from there. Please be aware that any further assistance on this issue should be directed to Google or the search engine in question.
