You can remove an affiliation from your Academia.edu profile at any time. If you remove all affiliations, your profile will show you as an independent researcher.
In some cases, you may wish to delete an affiliation, or remove all affiliations to become an independent researcher.
Delete an affiliation
- Go to your profile.
- Click Edit profile.
- Find the affiliation you want to remove.
- Click Delete. Repeat this step for any additional affiliations you want to delete.
- Click Save Edits when you're done!
Become an independent researcher
To be listed as an independent researcher, you must delete all of your affiliations on your profile. You cannot set your primary affiliation to independent researcher while also keeping any additional affiliations.
