Why isn't my Academia profile appearing in search results on Google?

Google can take a while to update its index. If you just created your account, it may take a few days to appear.

Alternatively, if you have just deleted your Academia profile, your information will remain in the search engine until Google reindexes their database. You can speed this process up by contacting them with a link to the profile you've just deleted. If you see a profile picture of you on Google that you'd like to delete, delete that account and then submit that account URL to Google. 

How can I make sure my Academia profile does appear in Google searches?

We do not control how Google ranks pages or chooses to display their search results, so it is possible that your profile may not appear on Google despite you adding additional information to it. To make your profile more likely to appear in Google, follower other users, add a profile photo, and upload some papers. One tip for getting your profile to display is to link the website of your department or college to your Academia page (ask your department IT officer if you don't know how). This will improve your chances of having your Academia profile appear significantly higher up in search results, which equates to your profile receiving more views.
