Our free users have many different ways to change the kinds of related documents and other information we think might be helpful in your research. If you are an author, uploading documents you've authored relevant to your research topics is a great way for us to understand what kind of research you're interested in.
For non-authors, viewing and downloading documents you find relevant to your research will lead us to showing you more of those things.
For all Academia users, if we're showing you documents or research you don't wish to see, there are a variety of free options to change what you see:
On the News Feed
If you see a piece of research you don't wish to see again, select "I'm not interested in this," from the three dot drop-down.
Blocking Users
If there's a person sharing information on your news feed you no longer wish to be involved with, you can block them from your account settings or from the news feed.
On the news feed, click the three dots, then select "Block."
You can also click here to see how to block users on Academia.
Your Recommendations Page
You can also take advantage of some of our options on your recommendations page. You can get to your recommendations page by selecting "Tools," and then clicking "Improve Your Recommendations."
Our free users have access to one of our recommendation options: the ability to remove papers you've viewed from your recommendation seeds. If you take one of your previous papers out of your recommendations, we'll stop making recommendations based on that paper view.
If you wish to gain access to our Premium recommendations features, you can upgrade at any time. To learn more about our recommendations options we provide only at the Academia Premium tier, click here.
